Happy Easter! (ハッピー・イースター)

Happy Easter! April 16 is Easter Sunday. On Easter, many people like to decorate their houses with Easter eggs, bunnies, and chicks. These are the three main symbols of Easter. Likewise, people also like to eat chocolate or marshmallow eggs, bunnies, and chicks. My favorite Easter food, however, is not chocolate, but deviled eggs. Deviled eggs are hard-boiled eggs that have been cut in half and filled with a paste normally made with egg yolks, mayonnaise, and spices. Often times, people will also put a olive on top, too. Deviled eggs are both delicious and easy to make. I recommend trying them!

La La Land(ラ・ラ・ランド)

Do you enjoy watching movies? I love movies. I often watch movies at home, and I go to the theater a couple times a month. The most recent movie I went to go see was La La Land. I was excited to see it because my friends in America told me it was great. The release date in Japan was a few months later than in other countries, so I had to wait a while, but it was well worth it! I recommend it to anyone who likes movies, especially those who like musicals. There’s plenty of singing and dancing, and some of the songs are sure to get stuck in your head. I liked it so much I may even go see it a second time!

Green Spring, Blue Spring(グリーンの春とブルーな春)

Spring is in the air! Some days are still chilly, but in general the weather has started to become warmer. In not too long flowers will bloom, trees will turn green, and my nose will start to run. That’s right—I have spring allergies. For a couple months every year, my eyes itch, my throat becomes scratchy, and my nose runs due to pollen in the air. For this reason, I don’t really like spring too much. I wish it would stay winter all year around! But, as they say, take the good with the bad, so I will just try my best to enjoy the last stretch of cold weather.

ビーフシチュー(Beef Stew)

Winter is here, and it sure is cold. Last week, we even saw a little bit of snow. Needless to say, it’s important to stay warm and cozy in this kind of weather. I try to stay warm by drinking hot drinks, wearing thick clothing, and, perhaps most importantly, eating hearty food. For me, there’s nothing quite like sitting down and eating a bowl of beef stew when the weather outside is less than perfect. Not only is it tasty and filling, it also warms you to your core. Of course, beef stew is delicious any time of the year, but somehow it tastes especially good on cold, windy nights.
I think everyone has their own favorite winter food, so let’s enjoy them while the weather lasts!

New Year’s Resolution(新年の抱負)

Happy New Year! It’s now officially 2017. Time goes by fast. At the start of every year, many people think of a New Year’s Resolution. A New Year’s resolution can be anything. Some people want to exercise every day, read more books, or eat healthier. This year, my New Year’s resolution is to drink more water. I have a bad habit or drinking only coffee—it’s not very healthy. Most people break their resolutions in a month or so, but I’d like to make it to at least March before I forget!
